base Licensing & Lifetime Access
OCTO is a Backstage-based developer portal delivered under a simple, one-time licensing model. Each Octo version can be purchased for a flat fee, granting lifetime usage rights to that version “as-is.” Plugins are licensed separately under the same model—each plugin version is available as a standalone purchase with all functionalities included at the time of release. This ensures predictable costs, transparent access to features, and long-term stability without recurring subscription fees.
A one-time flat fee gives you lifetime access to a specific Octo version. Extend with plugins, each licensed the same way—simple, transparent, and predictable.
The product is offered with a recurring support plan, renewed every 3 months, which includes 10 support tickets per period.
Each Octo license includes access to the complete release package for the purchased version. This package contains:
- Helm chart and Docker images for deployment
- Example application configuration, including SSO integration and catalog requirements
- Download credentials (username and password), valid for 30 days from license acquisition, allowing you to retrieve all licensed components into your own repository
⚠️ Important: The Digital-Mind Nexus service is intended only as a delivery mechanism for retrieving licensed resources during the 30-day download window. It is not designed for use as a production Kubernetes image registry.
Basic Support Level
- SLA: 3 working days per ticket
- Coverage: Weekdays, 09:00–17:00 EEST (08:00–16:00 CET/CEST)
- Scope: Installation and configuration. Excludes feature development — product evolution is delivered through the official roadmap in future versions

Plugins Licensing & Lifetime Access
Plugins extend the functionality of the Octo base product by adding specialized features on top of the core platform. Each plugin is a self-contained module that can be dynamically loaded into Octo without requiring changes to the base installation. To ensure consistent delivery, plugins are packaged as ZIP archives and distributed through the Digital-Mind Nexus delivery mechanism, the same channel used for the base product. Once retrieved, the plugin can be deployed into your own repository and enabled inside Octo.

The Security Questionnaire plugin provides organizations with a structured way to assess the security posture of each defined system. It enables system owners to complete a configurable survey, where questions and metadata are tailored to your organization’s needs. The collected responses feed into a security score algorithm, producing a clear, consistent measure of risk and compliance across systems.

The OpenAPI plugin allows systems across the organization to publish and expose their OpenAPI specifications directly within Octo. Once exposed, these specifications can be consulted, searched, and browsed by tags, components, and version, giving teams a unified view of available APIs.

Plugin Upgrades
Every Octo plugin is licensed on a per-version, lifetime basis, with a one-time flat fee. When a new version of a plugin is released, existing customers are not required to repurchase it in full. Instead, the upgrade cost is only the difference between the price of the previously licensed version and the new version.
This model ensures that:
- You retain full rights to continue using the version you already purchased, indefinitely.
- You can unlock new features or improvements at a predictable, incremental cost.
- Your investment in earlier versions is fully credited toward the latest release.
Example: If you own Security Questionnaire v1.0 licensed at 2000 EUR, and v1.1 is priced at 3000 EUR, the upgrade fee is only 1000 EUR.
